This morning Paige came into the office and asked me if she could watch cartoons. I told her that she could, however, she could only watch them for an hour. I told her that I would set the timer for one hour and when the timer beeped she would have to turn the cartoons off. I then said to her, "Deal?"
She nodded and then grabbed my hand. I thought that she was trying to hold my hand and lead me into the living room to turn on her cartoons. As soon as I stood up she started shaking my hand vigorously. It then dawned on me that she was trying to make a deal by "shaking on it". I then asked her if we were shaking on our deal. She told me yes and that Wilbur and Lewis always shake.
Lately, her favorite movie that she wants to watch AT LEAST once a day is Meet the Robinson's. She is already starting to quote the darn thing. On the movie, the two characters, Wilbur and Lewis, shake on their agreement over fixing the time machine.
I thought it was so cute that Paige had picked up on this and wanted to shake on our deal over cartoons!

That is SO cute! It is amazing how much kids pick up from movies and tv...some good (like Jenna learning to make her bed off of Cinderella)...
We haven't seen Meet the Robinsons, but it looks cute. Might have to try it out this weekend!
They learn so much so fast. Makes you wonder if you ever take full advantage of those little sponges, doesn't it? And I'm always surprised to realize how much attention Madison is giving to what we're watching, like when she remembers characters' names on shows. It almost gets scary if you think about negative stuff they could pick up if you weren't paying attention to what they were watching or to what you're doing, you know?
It's always fun to realize that your child has picked up something new and is displaying the new-found knowledge. She's growing up!
