Que-Pew-Ter

Paige usually does relatively well with her verbal skills. She started talking young and talks a lot....I have NO idea where she gets it from. :) Anyways, she has a tough time when it comes to saying "computer". She says it in three distinct syllables and it comes out as que-pew-ter. So I started trying to work with her today on saying com-pu-ter. She can now say com-pu-ter.

However, she still calls the computer a que-pew-ter. But then she looks at me and says, "But you call it a COM-pu-ter, Mom!"

Kids can be so funny!

Late Night Snow Fun

Last night, Joseph didn't get home until 7:30 and it had snowed pretty much all day. There was a lot of snow and he had picked up a snow shovel from my parents (everywhere is sold out) to shovel our driveway and sidewalks. Paige was already in her pajamas but he asked if we could get her bundled up and let her go outside. I agreed and Paige was SOOO excited!

She went outside and immediately went out to make a snow angel............

After about 45 minutes of being out there, we decided it was time for her to come in. She cried and cried telling me that she wanted to be outside and that it wasn't fair for her to have to come inside. I have no idea where she learned the concept of "fair" but she was sure using it to her advantage. All it did was tell me just how tired she was since she ended up getting to bed an hour and a half late. Oh well, I am glad she got to go out and play.

Deal?

This morning Paige came into the office and asked me if she could watch cartoons. I told her that she could, however, she could only watch them for an hour. I told her that I would set the timer for one hour and when the timer beeped she would have to turn the cartoons off. I then said to her, "Deal?"

She nodded and then grabbed my hand. I thought that she was trying to hold my hand and lead me into the living room to turn on her cartoons. As soon as I stood up she started shaking my hand vigorously. It then dawned on me that she was trying to make a deal by "shaking on it". I then asked her if we were shaking on our deal. She told me yes and that Wilbur and Lewis always shake.

Lately, her favorite movie that she wants to watch AT LEAST once a day is Meet the Robinson's. She is already starting to quote the darn thing. On the movie, the two characters, Wilbur and Lewis, shake on their agreement over fixing the time machine.

I thought it was so cute that Paige had picked up on this and wanted to shake on our deal over cartoons!

Lexi's Photo Shoot

I don't have many pictures of Lexi sitting up so while she was playing the other day, I thought that I would take some pictures. A lot of them turned out super cute so I thought that I would share. This first one is of Lexi with her old man face. We always laugh when she gives us this face because we think that it looks like an old man who is missing his teeth!

I think that this picture of Lexi is absolutely precious. Joseph was getting her to laugh and smile. You can see in her eyes how much she loves her daddy!

Here she is busy with her toys. She loves to take toys out of things. She doesn't care about putting them in, but she enjoys the process of taking them out!

Another award winning grin for her dad!

I had to take about five or six pictures of the girls together before I could get one of BOTH of them smiling.

Roughest Part of the Day

Sometimes winter can be just awful. It gets dark and dreary so early. And of course, during this part of the day, Joseph is gone at school and so it makes it the roughest part of the day.

At this point in the day, I don't have any motivation. I am also starting to get overwhelmed with all the things that I DIDN'T get done today. I wish that I could snap my fingers and have my house cleaned and my work done. I also start to get overwhelmed over the daily dinner dilemma. Although, tonight I have decided to make Three Cheese Shells. This is the first time that I have ever made them so we will see how they turn out.

I wish that I could just remove 4pm-7:30pm out of every day, especially in the winter. I know that this seems like random blabbing but I am just feeling so overwhelmed and unmotivated. I think that today is even worse because I thought some things were going to happen but they fell through. I have had two major disappointments today. I feel discouraged and almost what to throw my hands up in the air.

Does anybody else have consistent rough times of the day? How do you get over them and stay motivated?

Potty Training Woes

Why does potty training have to be so difficult and frustrating?!?

After we got home from vacation in Canada back in September, I decided to potty train Paige. She was almost 3 years old (between a rough pregnancy and a C-section, we started late) so I thought that she should just take off with it. She did really good at first. She would hold it until I would tell her it was time to go potty and if she had to go before then she would tell me. If she did have an accident, she would tell me right away.

Now, she hardly ever tells me when she has to go potty. I just make her go every 2 hours. However, if she has to go in between then, she usually just goes in her Pull-Ups and doesn't even tell me. I just find out next time I check her Pull-Ups. She can do the whole bathroom routine all by herself. She just doesn't seem to care enough to make sure she always goes in the toilet. I get so frustrated and I have tried many things. We have told her that if she will come and tell us that she has to go to the bathroom that we will giver her a treat. We have taken away her prized blanket and doll when she goes in her pull-ups. We have tried spanking or time out when she goes in her pull-ups. Nothing seems to work.

Now many might argue that in pull-ups she doesn't tell me when she has had an accident because she doesn't feel herself being wet. However, I have had her in the thick training underwear. We were using vinyl pants over the underwear but the smell of them gives Joseph a headache. Even when underwear, she doesn't tell me when she has an accident. So if she is playing and I just notice it, I don't know how long she has been wet or where all she has sat that I need to clean up.

I feel like I will never get Paige fully potty-trained. I don't feel like I can enroll her in preschool until we get the whole "going bathroom" down a little better. However, it feels like it is NEVER going to happen. She might have a good day of telling me and I get really excited that maybe we are making progress, but then we are back to the same old for weeks. Does anybody have any suggestions? Will my daughter ever be fully potty-trained????

Country Stroganoff Casserole

1 can cream soup of choice
1/2 c. sour cream
3/4 c. milk
1/2 c. mayonnaise
1 can tuna or chicken OR 1/2 lb. hamburger (cooked)
1 c. grated mozzerella cheese
2 tbsp. parsley
salt and pepper
1 tbsp. lemon juice
3 c. cooked pasta

Combine all ingredients. Pour into 1 1/2 quart shallow baking dish. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 45 minutes. Top with extra cheese the last 15 minutes of baking. Super easy and absolutely delicious - could be mixed in the morning and set in refrigerator until ready to cook.

The Dress and Paige

Joseph thought that I was weird for posting a picture of Paige in a dress with "her head cut off". So those of you who were starting to worry that either my daughter doesn't have a head anymore or that I am just a horrible mother who cares more about showing the dress that I got at a great deal instead of my BEAUTIFUL daughter in the dress, here is Paige in the dress!

Lexi Loo Kisses

I know that I am overwhelming everybody with the amount of blogs that I have posted today. All I have to say is, don't read them if you don't want to......

Lexi has learned to give kisses. You call her name and make a kiss face and make a couple of kiss noises and she leans forward (unfortunately with mouth WIDE open) and gives a kiss! They are slightly slobbery but they melt our heart nonetheless! In fact, this picture is today's photo one a day!

Quarter Sale Loot

I thought that I would share my quarter sale finds. As you can tell, I am super excited about all the deals I got. Here is Paige's new Sunday dress that we got for....................that's right, 25 cents!

This next picture is just the pile (44 items to be exact) of clothes that I got.......

For those of you who didn't read my favorite things of this week, this whole pile of clothes (none of which have stains or noticeable wear) cost me a grand total of $11.66! Yes, you read it right......$11.66!

If anybody wants me to look for clothes for them next month let me know the gender and size you want. After the sale, I will let you know how much it cost (sorry, I know that it is cheap, but I can't pay for everybody's). The only down side is that you might not trust my "cuteness" discretion.

I'm Your Hero

Today I was walking by Paige and she called my name. I stopped what I was doing to see what she needed and she said.......

"Mommy, I'm your hero!"

Yes Paige, you are mommy's hero!

Best Mommy

Paige will randomly throw her arms around my neck and tell me that she loves me and occasionally she'll tell me that I am the best mommy in the world. Friday morning she came up to me, threw her arms around my neck, and told me that I was the best mommy in the world.

A few minutes later, we were getting ready to get out the door and she was taking her sweet time getting her shoes on and getting out the door. I was starting to get a little impatient and irritatedly prodded her to get moving. She got a little frustrated that I was getting irritated. She looked at me and said, "You're not the best mommy anymore." Some moms might feel bad that there child told them that, but I thought it was hilarious. I guess you can't win them all!

This Week's Favorite Things

So.....it is time for this week's favorite things

Favorite Thing #1 - Other Mothers Quarter Sale

In Boise (there is one in Nampa as well), we have a store called Other Mothers. It is a secondhand store that carries really nice and gently used baby and children's clothing along with used strollers, bassinets, car seats, etc. One weekend a month, they do what is called a Quarter Sale. It happens on a Friday and then the next day on Saturday. People donate clothes (that Other Mothers decides they don't want to sell in the store) and they have a sale where each item is a quarter. They have tables stacked with clothes and you go through and find the clothes that you want. It can be a little bit of chaos since some women get pushy (which irritates me to no end....you would think at this age we could all play nice), but you get some real steals. I got 44 items, none of which had stains, one even still had the tag on it for $11.66!!! If I had gone and bought all of the stuff at a regular store, it would have cost me at least $150.00. So, I am grateful for Other Mothers and their monthly quarter sale.

Favorite Thing #2 - Nouveau Riche Seminar

Yesterday I went to a Nouveau Riche seminar on tax strategies. It was absolutely amazing and I learned so much about saving money and all these wonderful deductions that I can take as a small business owner. Everyone should have a small business (it is easier than you might think) because it comes with amazing tax benefits (plus the goal is to make some money with it too....always a great thing!). For those of you who haven't heard of Nouveau Riche, it is a real estate investing university.

Favorite Thing #3 - United First Financial

Joseph and I learned about United First Financial this week......they have a software program that helps you calculate how to pay off your house in 8-10 years. It is hard to explain but we are looking at it seriously and I would love to have our house paid off in 8-10 years! If anybody wants more information about the software, let me know and I will tell you who to talk to.

Favorite Thing #4 - My Warm House

I know it sounds a little weird, but this week has been cold and snowy in Boise and I am so grateful that I have heat and that I can stay warm. I know it seems like a small thing, but I think that we take the smallest things for granted a lot of the time (like Walmart letting you buy as much formula as you want!), so this week I am especially grateful for my house and that it keeps my little family warm.

Favorite Thing #6 - Church

We switched wards in November and finally started going to a family ward. I haven't made a ton of friends but I absolutely love the Bishop and his wife and have gotten more spiritual fulfillment than I have gotten for a long time. I am grateful and excited to go every Sunday and learn those things that help me get through my week. I am so thankful for the Church and everything it stands for. I am also thankful that I came back to the Church 5 1/2 years ago. I have now been back to being active for longer than I was inactive!!

Favorite Thing #7 - My Parents

I have the greatest parents in the world (I know that I am a little biased) but I am so grateful for them. This last week I was trying to process some possible life changes that were unexpected and my mom was really there for me. Everything is worked out now but I am so grateful for my parent's willingness to drop everything and be there for me (as well as my other siblings). I feel so blessed to have a family that is as close as we are. We don't always agree with each other but we make it a priority to not let our differences get in the way of staying close. My family is truly some of my best friends. It seems like that is getting harder and harder to say these days with people getting so busy with their lives.

Favorite Thing #8 - The Temple

The temple has been closed the last two weeks but finally reopened on the 22nd. Before it closed, Joseph and I had the opportunity to go 4 out of 5 consecutive weeks. I really missed it in the two weeks that it was closed for cleaning and I am hopeful we can find some time this week to go!

Favorite Thing #9 - Vocational Rehab

Joseph started classes this week at Boise State and because of his injury while deployed to Iraq, he was awarded vocational rehab through the VA. This means that they pay 100% of his college tuition, books, and supplies. Plus, they give us a stipend every month to help with living expenses. This has been an incredible blessing in our life! It is amazing how something can start out to be so horrible and yet turn out to bring so many blessings!

The Walmart Saga

I talked to the Walmart manager for about 15 minutes yesterday only to find out that............

THERE IS NO LIMIT ON FORMULA!!!!!!!

He has never heard of there being a limit on formula and he is going to talk to the two ladies that only let me buy the supposed "limit" of 8 cans!

Date Night

Last weekend, Joseph and I went out on a date with some friends. We decided to meet at the Outback Steakhouse. I knew that this restaurant was expensive, however, our friends wanted to go there, so we figured....oh well, we'll cough up the money. So we get there and each couple gets an appetizer. We start to look at the menu more and realize just how much this dinner was going to cost us. Our friends are noticing the same thing and comment that they didn't realize it would be so expensive. Well, I had been craving pizza so I said......why don't we finish our appetizers here and then go somewhere else for dinner. Everyone agreed that that would be fun.

So after eating our appetizers, we weren't full but we weren't hungry so we decided to go play black light miniature golf before we went to dinner. I had never heard of this miniature golf place before but we absolutely loved it. It was so much fun! Afterwards, we went to Old Chicago (one of my favorite places) for dinner. It was a wonderful night. It got me to thinking of another date idea. What if we went to one restaurant for appetizers, a different one for dinner, and a third one for dessert. I think next date night we might try that!

Walmart Boycott

When I to Walmart for formula, I like to stock up with 4 or 5 cans so that I don't have to go every single week. I went to Walmart two weeks ago and they were out of the kind of formula that Lexi uses. It wasn't that big of a deal because I still had two unopened cans at home. I went again earlier this week and was irritated to find that they were still out. I called my sister who also stocks up and asked her if she had a can that I could buy because now we were one bottle away from being completely out of formula. She said that she had been at Walmart the week previous and they were out then too. She only had two cans left and was hesitant to let me buy one of them because we didn't know how long Walmart would have this shortage. Completely understandable. So I grab a can that is one "quality" below the formula I normally buy and head off in search of a Walmart associate to find out when in the world they will have formula.

I can't find an associate anywhere so I head to the dressing rooms where there is ALWAYS an associate. I ask for a manager because by this time I am getting slightly irritated. After three pages for a manager and almost ten minutes of waiting, a mohawk sporting "support manager" finally arrived. I told him that between my sister and I, we had been to Walmart in search of THEIR brand of formula three times and they were out every time. I wondered if he knew when some might come in. He walked off to, apparently to go check it out (he didn't say anything to me about where he was going or if he was coming back), so I sat down to wait. After a few minutes, I asked the dressing room associate if the "support manager" was going to return with some answers. She said that she hoped so. After waiting another almost ten minutes, he reappeared to let me know that a truck was coming in that night. He had also put in two more orders of formula which should be there in 12 days. So I left Walmart with my lower grade formula.

Later that afternoon, my sister went to a different Walmart to find out if they had any formula. They had ONE can. She called me to see if I wanted her to buy it for me. Since I hadn't opened the can that I had purchased earlier and had plans to see my sister in a few hours, I had her buy it. My plan was to return the lower grade formula the next day when I went to Walmart to stock up on the regular formula. So I was thinking that I lucked out and my irritation with Walmart was starting to diminish.

The next morning I left for Walmart at 7:15 am. I wanted to make sure that I got to Walmart in time to purchase 5 cans for me and my sister wanted 10 cans. I had no idea when they would run out since they can't seem to keep it stocked. First, I went to the Customer Service counter to return the lower grade formula. She told me to leave the formula with her and go get the formula that I needed and then we would just do an exchange. I told her that I needed to get 10-15 cans of formula and asked her if that would be a problem. She said that it wouldn't. So I went back in search of formula.

To my pleasant surprise, they had formula and the cans were the 25% more bonus cans for the regular price. I decided that instead of getting just 5 cans for myself, I would get 10 cans since I didn't know how long they would have the bonus cans. 10 cans would get me until Lexi goes onto regular milk and if I had any extra then my sister would buy them from me because her son is 3 1/2 months younger than Lexi. So, I loaded 20 cans in the cart and headed back to customer service. Remember, I was getting 10 cans for my sister also.

There was a line at customer service so I patiently waited. The guy in front of me wanted stamps so the customer service lady (same one as before) flagged down the supervisor who had stamps. The customer service walked out to meet the supervisor halfway and then instead of returning with the stamps she walked a little ways with the supervisor talking to her about something. Then they stopped and both looked at my cart. The customer service lady then came walking back into the customer service area with the supervisor following a little bit behind her. The customer service lady then told me that the limit on formula was 8 cans. WHAT?!? I asked her if this rule was just for purchasing at customer service or if it was at all the cashiers. The supervisor then piped up and said that the rule applied at all Walmarts. I looked at the customer service lady and asked why she hadn't said anything when I was there 10 minutes prior and asked her if getting 10-15 cans was going to be a problem. She irritatingly said that she had been unsure of the rules.

The problem with this is that she had initiated the conversation with the supervisor. It wasn't like the supervisor had walked in, seen my 20 cans, and said that there was a limit. When the customer service lady had gone to get stamps, she asked the supervisor about the amount of formula that I was buying. So if she was unsure then, she would have been unsure 10 minutes prior and shouldn't have told me that it was fine. She should have said that there might be a limit and she would have to check. On top of that, NOWHERE is it posted that there is a limit on the formula that you can purchase at one time.

I was LIVID. So I left the store with only 8 cans and called my sister as I drove home. She said that it was ridiculous and that she had purchased 10 cans before. So she said that she was going to go to the same Walmart later in the day and try and purchase 12 cans........10 for her and 2 for me to complete the 10 that I initially wanted. She told me that she thought that I should call the general manager. So later that day she went to Walmart and guess what?!? She purchased 12 cans and they didn't say a darn thing.

So this morning I am calling the general manager at Walmart. She has been off for a few days but should be there today. I have decided to boycott Walmart. However, if I do need anything there, I will just send Joseph. That way, I won't break MY boycott!

Dinner Frustrations Part 2: The Conclusion

Joseph was unable to stop on his way home last night for mozzerella cheese because he was running late and we had some people coming over. So after they left, he went to the store and bought not one, not two, not three, but FOUR bags of shredded mozzerella cheese. I only needed one but I don't think that he was very happy about having to go out in the snow at 9:00 at night for cheese so he wanted to make sure that he wouldn't have to go get cheese again for a long time.

So finally at 9:45 pm, we finally sat down to have dinner. I wish that I could say it was as good as it always is but it wasn't. I am not sure why other than maybe I was too frustrated to really enjoy it.

Dinner Frustrations

Does anyone ever start to cook dinner, especially excited for what they are making and about halfway through the meal prep realize that they don't have a key ingredient?!?

Tonight, I was craving home made Chicken Garlic Pizza. So I am cooking up chicken and dicing tomatoes and green onions when I realize that we are out of mozzerella cheese! There is a grocery store less than a mile from our house so maybe I can get Joseph to stop and pick some up on his way home from school. It is just so frustrating! Now I have to come up with another dinner idea for Paige. She will be in bed by the time Joseph gets home and I get it in the oven.

Oh well, I guess that is just the way life goes sometimes..........

Chicken Wraps

Joseph's cousin, Rachel, commented on my chicken cooking picture that I was making a lot of chicken. She wondered what I was making. So here is the recipe for chicken wraps. That night was the first time we had had this recipe and we absolutely love it. I always cook up more chicken than I need because the process of dicing chicken is so labor intensive and my hands about fall off from the cold because I try to dice them when they are still half frozen. Anyways, I always cook up a ton because a lot of our favorite recipes call for cooked, diced chicken so I know that I will use it up quickly! Anyway, for the chicken wrap recipe..........

Mix together 6 ozs. softened cream cheese and 4 tbsps. softened butter. After that is mixed together, mix in some dried onion flakes. Add 2 c. cooked, diced (or shredded) chicken. Seperate 8 crescent rolls and lay out on cookie sheet. Spread chicken mixture onto each roll. Cover each with another 8 crescent rolls and press sides of each roll together to seal. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes (could be longer or shorter depending on oven, you want the tops to be brown and the dough to be all the way done).

Meanwhile, mix 1 can cream of chicken soup, 1/2 c. sour cream, 1/2 c. milk, and pepper to taste in a saucepan. Heat the mixture up and serve over cooked rolls as gravy.

Catching Up

I have not been as faithful with my blogging as of late. I have not kept up with my weekly gratitude list nor my photo one a days. Things have been really crazy lately, I feel like my memory is failing as of late, and I don't feel like there has been that many interesting things going on in our life to blog about. However, since this blog isn't just to keep people up to date with our life but also to be somewhat of a journal for me, I know that I need to start to take notice of the little things.

I can hardly remember last week (nothing too major happened), so I am going to start to pay extra attention this week to the little things that happen. Yes, I realize that the week is mostly over but it is never too late to start to take more notice our our blessings.

Part of the reason that my life has been so chaotic and busy is with working. Working at home is both a blessing and a vice. I love that I am home with my girls and get to take care of them and watch them grow. However, it is a lot harder to get things accomplished when it feels like every five minutes Lexi is crying or Paige is wanting me to play or get her something. It can be very frustrating. Unfortunately, by the time my kids go to bed, I am so tired and can't get up much motivation to come into the office and work for three or four hours. After I put my kids down, I just want to veg in front of the television or go crawl in bed with a good book. However, I have a lot to do. Running our own business and doing all the internet marketing is very time intensive. Adding to my time crunch is the fact that I am on a huge learning curve with doing an eCommerce business. I can see how much I have learned and it has been very satisfying to know that I can still learn something! However, I spend a lot of time on the phone or on live internet chats trying to work out kinks and get questions answered. But aside from all of the complaining, I am grateful for this wonderful opportunity Joseph and I have been blessed with to work from home!

Lexi has been somewhat of a pill lately. The poor kid is teething and getting over a cough that she has had for two or three weeks. However, it has screwed up her sleeping routine and it has been really hard on me. However, we were rewarded with her first tooth last week. One tooth down, and who knows how many more to go!

Aerobics

As I was sitting in Relief Society on Sunday reading their weekly newsletter, I noticed that they have a activity called "Fun and Free Aerobics" in the morning, three days a week at one of the nearby church buildings. Well, I have been thinking lately how I need to get fit and more healthy so I thought that I would try aerobics yesterday morning. School didn't start for Joseph until today so he was home to watch the girls. I left for aerobics and was a few minutes late. They had already started when I got there so I jumped right in, next to a lady from our ward (the stake relief society president) who has a son that I have gone to school with since elementary school. Behind me was a pregnant lady and a woman in her sixties. I was really excited about doing aerobics until I got about 10 minutes into it and realized how out of shape I am.......aerobics KICKED MY BUTT! I couldn't even finish the entire aerobics. It was pathetic. However, I am not going to give up and I will conquer aerobics!!! Good thing there are no pictures for blackmail of my pathetic aerobics effort.

Photo One A Day #6

Yes, this is chicken cooking. I was experimenting with the different settings on my camera and I thought that this one was cool because you could actually see the steam in the picture. So since I hadn't taken any other pictures today and because I love chicken, this is my picture for today.

Mealtime Dilemma

Every day I have a meal time dilemma. I do fine coming up with main dish ideas. My dilemma is that I never seem to be able to come up with any side dish ideas beyond frozen veggies and canned fruit. While these are great, I would like to be more creative. With that said, I don't want to spend three hours in the kitchen making dinner. So, I am asking for a little help here. Does anyone have any yummy but relatively quick side dish ideas?!? Please help me overcome my meal time dilemma!

Photo One A Day #5

This is a picture of my kitchen.....more specifically, my clean kitchen. One of the things that I love most is having a clean and straight kitchen. I feel like I can get through my day and handle everything else if my kitchen is clean. Unfortunately, my kitchen is only clean probably about 25-50% of the time. It seems like this is the easiest place for mess to accumulate and it always feels like the most overwhelming to clean. So, I took this picture to remind myself how much I love it when my kitchen is clean. Hopefully I can boost my clean time to at least 75%!

Paige and Her Dinglehopper

For Christmas, the family got the movie, The Little Mermaid. For some reason, I have always loved this movie and Paige seems to love it as well. She usually wants to watch it every day and sometimes she wants to watch it several times a day. She even sings like Ariel when Ariel starts to sing and Ursula takes her voice. It is really cute.

For her birthday in October, my brother and his wife gave her a dish and food set. In this set there are several plastic forks.........or dinglehoppers (Ariel finds one in The Little Mermaid and the seagull tells her that it is a dinglehopper), as Paige so lovingly calls them. Last night, she decided that she wanted to make her hair curly with her dinglehopper. It was so funny that I had to take pictures.

The last picture is her finished hair-do. It didn't turn out curly, but it sure did turn out something!

Photo One A Day #4

This challenge is proving to be harder for me than I expected it to be. Partly, its hard because I wonder what other people are going to think about the photo I pick. I wonder if they will think it is stupid or like every other one that I have done. However, a smaller part of me is telling myself not to care. I want to do this challenge for myself. I am just using my blog as a means of journaling it. Besides, I am not sure how many people even read my blog or if they read it on a consistent basis.

There is a website that will turn your blog into a bound book. I think I will do that at the end of every year. I find it hard to journal, but I sure am getting addicted to blogging. So maybe I will make this blog have a dual purpose. Anyway, here is today's photo......

This week has really been a struggle for me. As I was looking out the office window this morning, I took special notice of the tree in my front yard and the fact that it didn't have any leaves as it is winter. It then got me to thinking about seasons and more particularly seasons of life. I thought about how each year my tree blossoms in the Springtime bigger and fuller than the year before. Each year it grows bigger, despite looking like this in the wintertime. It reminded me that we all have seasons in live where we are discouraged and struggling. At the same time, we all have springtime when we come back bigger and fuller, hopefully learning through the "winter" what we needed to blossom more fully. The winds may blow and the branches of the tree may shake, but the trunk and root of the tree hang on strong until it is it's season to blossom.

After taking the picture and uploading it to my computer, I noticed that even though it is winter and there are clouds in the sky, there is also blue sky. It reminded me that even during my struggles and my "winter" there is blessings and blue sky for me to be thankful for.

Photo One A Day #2 and #3

I missed yesterday so I took two pictures today. Both of them are of my girls. They are the most important thing to me so the majority of my pictures will probably be of them!

Lexi had been on top of this blanket on the floor. She then thought it was great fun to roll around in the blanket and play peek-a-boo with Joseph and I. We took several pictures of her all covered up with the blanket but I thought this one was the most precious.

Paige always gets a little jealous when we take pictures of Lexi and always wants us to take a picture of her too. So here she is being a ham for the camera.

Homemade Chicken Garlic Pizza

Here is the homemade chicken garlic pizza recipe for any of you who are interested...

2 frozen loaves of Ready-Dough (I get them at Walmart, they come in a pack of 3)
Ranch dressing
Chicken (chopped and cooked)
Minced garlic
Roma tomatoes (rinse seeds out of them, then dice)
Green onions (diced)
Mozzarella cheese
Bacon (cooked and chopped)

Thaw out the 2 loaves of dough. Mix ranch dressing and minced garlic. For proportions, use as much ranch as needed to cover the pizza dough to your liking. Add garlic so that you can taste a hint of it but don't make it so it overpowers the ranch. Roll out dough so that it fits on a large cookie sheet. Spread ranch/garlic mixture on dough. Add light layer of mozzarella cheese. Then add a layer of cooked chicken and bacon. Next is tomatoes and onions. Top with more cheese. Cook at 400 degrees for about 30 minutes (depending on oven and thickness of cookie sheet), until cheese is bubbly and dough is completely cooked. Eat and enjoy!

Photo One A Day Challenge

I have decided to do the photo one a day challenge. For more information on the challenge go to

http://photojojo.com/content/tutorials/project-365-take-a-photo-a-day/

I got this idea from Joseph's cousin (once again) and thought that I would do the challenge. I also really like the photojojo website so I am going to add it to my links. It gives a lot of great ideas of things to do with all the photos we all seem to accumulate and don't know what to do with them once we have used the best ones for scrapbooking or blogging. So here is my photo for today....

This is my precious baby, Lexi, taking a nap on the living room floor. I had heard her fuss a little bit but I was busy working on something in the office. Since she didn't all out cry I hurried to finish what I was doing before going to see what she needed. I figured she was crying because she was tired and wanted to go to bed but I figured that she could wait a minute or two. When I went in to see what she was fussing over....I found her cuddling her burp rag, sleeping on the living room floor. So, I decided to capture this moment for today's picture!

Raspberry Smoothies

As I wrote in my previous blog, one of my favorite things for the week has been raspberry smoothies. They have also been one of Paige's favorite things of the week and so we decided to make some to have with our breakfast burritos this morning. Paige gets a "raspberry smoothie" mustache whenever she drinks it. I took a picture this morning and thought that I would share.

My friend wanted the smoothie recipe so here it is. She also asked for the homemade chicken garlic pizza recipe and I will post that soon!!!

Raspberry Smoothie

1 c. frozen raspberries (I use a HEAPING cup)
1/3 c. low fat vanilla yogurt
1/2 c. apple juice
1 banana

Mix it all in a blender.....makes about 16 oz. We usually double it and add 1 c. crushed ice (1/2 c. for single batch) to make it a little thicker and colder.

This Week's Favorite Things

While I was perusing blogs, I found one of Joseph's cousin's blog and she had listed out her favorite things. I thought that this was kinda cool. I also had been thinking how I want to start being more aware of the many blessings that I have. I know that I take my blessings for granted and I need to be more grateful. So I decided to combine both ideas of gratitude and favorite things into one and this is my first edition of "Weekly Favorite Things". My goal with this is to have more of a "gratitude attitude", but also to share with our friends things going on in our life and maybe be able to pass on an idea or two that I run into. I am not going to predetermine a set number of things. Some weeks I may only have one or two and others I may have ten. I hope to always have at least three favorite things every week since I think that is a pretty meager amount to be grateful for.

Favorite # 1 - My Bed

I know that this probably sounds stupid and maybe a little bit lazy but I absolutely love my bed. Not only is it comfortable, but it is where I feel the most "safe" (again, probably sounding a little corny). Not only do I love to sleep in my bed, but I love to read in my bed, I love to watch tv in my bed, and I love to just lay in bed and think. One of my most treasured times of day is right before I fall asleep and I just think about life and what I want from it.

Favorite # 2 - Homemade Chicken Garlic Pizza

On Christmas Eve, we went to Joseph's brother's house for homemade pizza. More specifically, Chicken Garlic Homemade Pizza. It was absolutely delicious. I wish that I could eat it every day for every meal. So, Joseph's birthday was last Sunday and his family came over for dinner. I decided to do Homemade Chicken Garlic Pizza. Thankfully, I had enough ingredients to make it again for Joseph and I on Tuesday night. Hmmmm, just writing about it makes me want to run to the store and pick up some ingredients to make more tonight! If anybody is interested in the recipe, let me know.

Favorite # 3 - Raspberry Smoothies

For Joseph's birthday dinner, I decided to try out a recipe I had found for raspberry smoothies. Not only was it fast and simple to make, but it was incredibly delicious. Now I think we have made raspberry smoothies almost every day since Sunday......speaking of raspberry smoothies, I think I will make some when I finish blogging!!

Favorite # 4 - Blogger

I have just really discovered the fascinating world of blogging this week and I am absolutely in love with it. I have found some old friends that have moved away and I have also found friends from high school. I love checking everybody's blog to get updated on their life. I find myself getting a little addicted so I will definitely have to exercise some self control and discipline!

Favorite # 5 - Vinyl Lettering

I love to use vinyl lettering for crafting (someday I want my own machine to make the lettering myself.....I just have to find some money tree seeds for the backyard!) but I discovered a new use for it this week....ADVERTISING! I now advertise myself as a Realtor on the back window of my car using vinyl lettering. I am sure others have known about this for awhile but I just finally got it done this week and think it is the coolest thing ever. Although, now I have to be really careful about my driving.....no more road raging......since my name and phone number are plastered on my back window.

Favorite # 6 - Bedtime

Although I do look forward to my bedtime every night, I have been grateful this week for when I have gotten the girls to bed. Paige and I have had a slightly rough week in trying to get her to understand that having attitude with mom is just not going to fly. So I have looked forward to the peace and quiet that comes after getting the kids in bed.

I think that about covers it for the week. I just thought up this idea today and so I don't remember all the little day to day things that have happened over the week that I am grateful for. I know that there are a ton of them, I just need to pay more attention. Hopefully next week I will be more on the lookout to remember all the many blessings that come my way!

Little Miss Lexi Loo

Here are some fun pictures of little Lexi. I think she is the cutest thing in the world. She is so happy and is willing to smile at anyone and everyone. I am so thankful that we were able to be blessed with having Lexi in our family. I love my two little girls more than anything in the world! I thank God everyday that he has given me the privilege of raising my two girls. I wouldn't trade them for anything!

I did it!

I am so excited!! I have finally figured out how to do this blog thing. So, I went and found the camera and it had some new pictures on it that I thought I would share. We have had quite a bit of snow here in Boise in the last few days so Joseph and Paige decided to build a snowman. I was out at my office and when I got home, this is what I found:

When I first turned onto our street Paige had the broom and was sweeping snow off of the driveway and the sidewalk. Before getting to the house, I stopped at our mailbox and she looked up and saw me, then came running down the road. It was the cutest thing. After I put the car in the garage, I got to take pictures of Joseph and Paige by their snowman.

Our New Blog.......

So here I am doing a new blog.....let me start by updating people on our current situation in life. Joseph and I both work from home, Joseph as an independent executive with a company called Zrii and I am a Realtor. Joseph is also a Sergeant in the Marine Corps Reserves. He serves as the maintenance chief and loves the brotherhood that he feels with his Marines. We have two beautiful girls named Paige and Lexi. Paige is 3 and Lexi is 8 months.

I grew up here in the Valley. My maiden name is Rich. I went to Meridian High School and graduated in 2001. I have changed a lot since high school so anybody that knew me then.....forget what you knew. I have completely changed. Joseph grew up in Nampa. He was home schooled and graduated in 2000.

This blogging thing hasn't worked out for me in the past, but I am hoping to make a new run at it and see what I can do. I would like to get back in contact with old friends and also stay updated with the lives of the friends I have now. Life gets so busy with spouses, work, and kids that you don't have the opportunity to see people as much. I think that this is a great way to keep updated with people. Now if I could just figure out how to find people and add friends.

Anyway, if you want more information on real estate in the Treasure Valley, I will have my website up and running soon and will post the address on my blog. If you want to see what Joseph does, visit www.nutritionalsupplementsbyde.com.
