On Wednesday, I came down with the flu. It had gone around pretty much my entire extended family but I was thinking that my little immediate family had escaped it. Then, on Wednesday afternoon, I started to not feel so hot. Then by Wednesday evening, I was vomiting. I HATE to be sick. Not only does it affect me, but it affects my kids. Thankfully, Joseph only had one class on Thursday and he canceled his tutoring so that he could stay home and take care of the kids. I was really thankful that he did pretty much everything with the kids. It meant a lot to me to be able to just rest and feel better.
Thursday morning I stayed in bed until about 11:00 when Joseph had to go to school. At about 7:15 in the morning, my bed started to sway. I just figured that I was having vertigo or something from being sick. A few moments later, I heard Joseph go outside. After coming back inside, he asked me if I had felt the house sway. I told him that I had but thought that it was just from being sick. He said that the desk was swaying and that the blinds were banging back and forth on the window. He thought that maybe there was a VERY STRONG wind but when he went outside, everything was still. So I turned on the news (thinking we might be crazy) and lo and behold the news station was getting lots of calls from people who were feeling the same thing. It's always nice to find out that you aren't crazy. So, what was all this swaying?
Come to find out, a 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit Wells, Nevada and we felt it all the way up here in Boise. My mom nor my sister felt it but Joseph and I did. I was thankful that it wasn't any closer and that it didn't cause any damage but it is kind of a weird feeling to know that I experienced an earthquake. Hopefully, I won't ever experience any stronger ones than that!!

Steve and I have felt the minor sway of distant earthquakes in the past and it's a rather bizarre feeling :) I'm sorry to hear that you're sick. That's never any fun. I usually find that when I'm sick I still have to handle everything, though. Steve's work schedule doesn't allow him much leeway for coming home and taking over for me. Oh, well. I hope you're feeling better soon!
When we lived in Japan there were tremors all the time. I remember waking up at night in our bunk bed, thinking, "Hey, sis, stop shaking the bed," then realizing everything else was shaking too. Then we got to the point where we would just say, "oh, it's just a tremor," and go back to sleep! Aren't earthquakes fun? Anyway, I hope you feel better soon. My whole little family is getting over colds and it hasn't been much fun at all. By the way, the pictures of Lexi are adorable. She is so cute! I love her grin in the top picture.
Like Calista, if I'm sick, I've just gotta deal. I can't wait til the baby is born and he can take paternity leave to help out! Hope you get to feeling better soon, and that the kids don't catch it.
Bill and I didn't feel the earthquake, but many people here did. I thought that was a ways out to feel it too, but some did. Coming from California, we have felt many before...and lived where there were worse ones, I don't relish the thought and hope they don't get closer or srtonger.
That is so crazy! All the time I lived in Idaho and never experienced one, how weird. (Well, my mom said there was one when I was brand new, my crib rocked and that's about it.) I just think it's interesting because I know Idaho is on a fault line. So crazy!
I'm nursing Sven back to health this weekend too, must be going around all over (I don't think drinking grog out of his Calv hat with his class last night helped his cause though.) I'm glad Joseph was able to step in and play mom for the day. Hope you're feeling much better. I'll have some tea for you, in support.
