Paige usually does relatively well with her verbal skills. She started talking young and talks a lot....I have NO idea where she gets it from. :) Anyways, she has a tough time when it comes to saying "computer". She says it in three distinct syllables and it comes out as que-pew-ter. So I started trying to work with her today on saying com-pu-ter. She can now say com-pu-ter.
However, she still calls the computer a que-pew-ter. But then she looks at me and says, "But you call it a COM-pu-ter, Mom!"
Kids can be so funny!

Late Night Snow Fun
Last night, Joseph didn't get home until 7:30 and it had snowed pretty much all day. There was a lot of snow and he had picked up a snow shovel from my parents (everywhere is sold out) to shovel our driveway and sidewalks. Paige was already in her pajamas but he asked if we could get her bundled up and let her go outside. I agreed and Paige was SOOO excited!
She went outside and immediately went out to make a snow angel............
After about 45 minutes of being out there, we decided it was time for her to come in. She cried and cried telling me that she wanted to be outside and that it wasn't fair for her to have to come inside. I have no idea where she learned the concept of "fair" but she was sure using it to her advantage. All it did was tell me just how tired she was since she ended up getting to bed an hour and a half late. Oh well, I am glad she got to go out and play.

Deal?
This morning Paige came into the office and asked me if she could watch cartoons. I told her that she could, however, she could only watch them for an hour. I told her that I would set the timer for one hour and when the timer beeped she would have to turn the cartoons off. I then said to her, "Deal?"
She nodded and then grabbed my hand. I thought that she was trying to hold my hand and lead me into the living room to turn on her cartoons. As soon as I stood up she started shaking my hand vigorously. It then dawned on me that she was trying to make a deal by "shaking on it". I then asked her if we were shaking on our deal. She told me yes and that Wilbur and Lewis always shake.
Lately, her favorite movie that she wants to watch AT LEAST once a day is Meet the Robinson's. She is already starting to quote the darn thing. On the movie, the two characters, Wilbur and Lewis, shake on their agreement over fixing the time machine.
I thought it was so cute that Paige had picked up on this and wanted to shake on our deal over cartoons!

Lexi's Photo Shoot
I don't have many pictures of Lexi sitting up so while she was playing the other day, I thought that I would take some pictures. A lot of them turned out super cute so I thought that I would share. This first one is of Lexi with her old man face. We always laugh when she gives us this face because we think that it looks like an old man who is missing his teeth!
I think that this picture of Lexi is absolutely precious. Joseph was getting her to laugh and smile. You can see in her eyes how much she loves her daddy!
Here she is busy with her toys. She loves to take toys out of things. She doesn't care about putting them in, but she enjoys the process of taking them out!

Roughest Part of the Day
Sometimes winter can be just awful. It gets dark and dreary so early. And of course, during this part of the day, Joseph is gone at school and so it makes it the roughest part of the day.
At this point in the day, I don't have any motivation. I am also starting to get overwhelmed with all the things that I DIDN'T get done today. I wish that I could snap my fingers and have my house cleaned and my work done. I also start to get overwhelmed over the daily dinner dilemma. Although, tonight I have decided to make Three Cheese Shells. This is the first time that I have ever made them so we will see how they turn out.
I wish that I could just remove 4pm-7:30pm out of every day, especially in the winter. I know that this seems like random blabbing but I am just feeling so overwhelmed and unmotivated. I think that today is even worse because I thought some things were going to happen but they fell through. I have had two major disappointments today. I feel discouraged and almost what to throw my hands up in the air.
Does anybody else have consistent rough times of the day? How do you get over them and stay motivated?

Potty Training Woes
Why does potty training have to be so difficult and frustrating?!?
After we got home from vacation in Canada back in September, I decided to potty train Paige. She was almost 3 years old (between a rough pregnancy and a C-section, we started late) so I thought that she should just take off with it. She did really good at first. She would hold it until I would tell her it was time to go potty and if she had to go before then she would tell me. If she did have an accident, she would tell me right away.
Now, she hardly ever tells me when she has to go potty. I just make her go every 2 hours. However, if she has to go in between then, she usually just goes in her Pull-Ups and doesn't even tell me. I just find out next time I check her Pull-Ups. She can do the whole bathroom routine all by herself. She just doesn't seem to care enough to make sure she always goes in the toilet. I get so frustrated and I have tried many things. We have told her that if she will come and tell us that she has to go to the bathroom that we will giver her a treat. We have taken away her prized blanket and doll when she goes in her pull-ups. We have tried spanking or time out when she goes in her pull-ups. Nothing seems to work.
Now many might argue that in pull-ups she doesn't tell me when she has had an accident because she doesn't feel herself being wet. However, I have had her in the thick training underwear. We were using vinyl pants over the underwear but the smell of them gives Joseph a headache. Even when underwear, she doesn't tell me when she has an accident. So if she is playing and I just notice it, I don't know how long she has been wet or where all she has sat that I need to clean up.
I feel like I will never get Paige fully potty-trained. I don't feel like I can enroll her in preschool until we get the whole "going bathroom" down a little better. However, it feels like it is NEVER going to happen. She might have a good day of telling me and I get really excited that maybe we are making progress, but then we are back to the same old for weeks. Does anybody have any suggestions? Will my daughter ever be fully potty-trained????

Country Stroganoff Casserole
1 can cream soup of choice
1/2 c. sour cream
3/4 c. milk
1/2 c. mayonnaise
1 can tuna or chicken OR 1/2 lb. hamburger (cooked)
1 c. grated mozzerella cheese
2 tbsp. parsley
salt and pepper
1 tbsp. lemon juice
3 c. cooked pasta
Combine all ingredients. Pour into 1 1/2 quart shallow baking dish. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 45 minutes. Top with extra cheese the last 15 minutes of baking. Super easy and absolutely delicious - could be mixed in the morning and set in refrigerator until ready to cook.
